If the keypad is completely dead, you can safely check the breaker and the inline fuse before calling anyone. On Linear keypads, the fuse holder is sometimes accessible behind the bottom cover. If the fuse is blown, replace it with the same amperage rating and nothing higher. That’s a safe, legitimate check.
Where DIY goes wrong is opening the enclosure and testing live terminals with a multimeter while the gate operator is powered. Linear keypads run low-voltage, but the gate operator they’re wired to carries line voltage. If you don’t know which is which, stop.
