Meet the Chatsworth Team Behind Vance Gate Repair Chatsworth

We’re a small crew of technicians who work on gates in Chatsworth, Porter Ranch, Northridge, and the surrounding northwest San Fernando Valley neighborhoods. Most of us came up through commercial access-control work before Adrian pulled us onto residential gate repair. That matters because commercial work teaches you to document everything and fix it right the first time. We don’t rotate through new hires every season. The person who answers the phone knows what a Viking control board does, and the technician who shows up has probably fixed your exact gate model before.

Adrian Vance, Owner and Lead Technician

Adrian started in commercial access control in 2014, running wire and programming cards readers on industrial sites where a failing gate meant a failed security audit. He brought those habits to residential work: photograph the wiring before touching it, write down the part number, and set the limit switches with a meter instead of guessing. His specialty is gate motors that other companies have already replaced once and still don’t work. He’s the one who will tell you a LiftMaster that hums but won’t move usually has a bad capacitor, not a bad motor. Adrian still runs most service calls himself and reviews every photo log before it goes to the customer. Outside of work, he restores old analog audio equipment, which explains the multimeter collection in the truck.

Daniel R., Senior Installer

Daniel has been installing and welding gates for over eight years, and he’s the reason we can take on a full custom driveway gate job without subbing out the fabrication. He’s AWS-certified in structural welding and handles everything from steel frame repair to building a new cantilever slide gate from scratch. Daniel measures three times and cuts once, which is why his installs come out square on the first attempt. If your gate post is leaning because the concrete was poured too shallow in 1998, he’s the one who digs it out, sets a deeper footing, and makes it right. He’s also fluent in Spanish, which comes in handy when we’re coordinating with landscapers on a job. His garage at home has seventeen clamps and counting.

Maria T., Service Coordinator

Maria is the voice on the phone when you call at 6:40 on a Tuesday morning or 11:15 on a Saturday night. She’s been dispatching for trades since 2016 and keeps the schedule running without ever making you feel rushed through a question. If you call about a gate that won’t close, she knows to ask whether the photo-eye light is blinking, whether you hear a humming sound, and whether the remote works from inside the car but not outside. That means the technician arrives with the likely parts on the truck instead of ordering them after a first visit. Maria is also the one who makes sure your written price and photo record are emailed before the tech pulls out of the driveway. She’s a Chatsworth native and will absolutely tell you which taco truck on Devonshire is worth the stop.

Luis M., Apprentice Technician

Luis joined us two years ago after finishing a welding program at a community college in the Valley. He works alongside Daniel on installs and rides with Adrian on motor diagnostics, learning the nine automation brands we service. Luis handles a lot of the photo documentation on site, which means he’s getting very good at catching details before they become callbacks: a hinge pin that’s starting to bind, a receiver antenna that’s routed too close to a junction box, a ground wire that wasn’t tightened to spec. He’s the guy who labels every wire before disconnecting anything. Luis also races BMX on weekends, which means he’s not afraid of a gate that fought back.
